I’ve had some time to reflect on what made a big difference in some of our past moves. A big bouquet of pink peonies brought by a neighbor to welcome us to our new NY neighborhood stands out, as does a tray of brownies from a culinarily gifted VT neighbor. But most appreciated was that from Sally the spreadsheet goddess. She walked over from across the street a few days after moving to WA with a big confident smile and a set of excel spreadsheets, one with a list of all our neighbors, their names, phone numbers and emails. The other was a list of doctors, dentists, schools, stores, parks, etc. We felt instantly connected. Not as tasty as a plate of cookies, but a whole lot more useful and easier on the waistline. How have you been welcomed into your new neighborhood?
